Membership

[Wading a shore at Constitution Island.] Men must be of legal age in good physical condition, clean-shaven, with sound mind and body, as we do lots of running, jumping, wading, and get dirty, wet, sore, cut, bruised, cursed, etc...
Prospective recruits that are overweight or have physical limitations are advised to join a Battalion company. Recruits are not accepted sight-unseen and not until a Trustee has met them and found them acceptable for the King's service.

We are not a spit-and-polish parade ground or ceremonial unit, we are recreating an elite fighting unit on campaign. Most of our recruits have joined upon the recommendation of a 40th soldier who knows them, and nearly all others have watched us on the field and decided this is they kind of unit they want to be in. It is imperitive that the membership be agreeable to each other, as one member with a personality not suited for this service will cause harm upon the whole. To avoid unpleasant surprises and hard feelings we encourage prospective recruits to observe us before joining as it is important that recruits feel comfortable with us and we with them. There is not a place for everyone in the 40th, however if you have a temperment and personality agreeable to us, and are physically up to the rigors, this is a great unit to be part of.
